Small Business Sunday is a great community of small businesses, we were lucky enough to win a place in the community in March 2017. Every year Theo Paphitis holds an event at the ICC in Birmingham for all the SBS winners. The day itself consists of lots of networking, presentations by top business professionals including Theo, insightful advice sessions by major sponsors including Ryman, iLaw, DHL and of course if you’re a new winner you have the opportunity to receive your certificate and photo with Theo.

Here’s our photo with the man himself:

Being very new to this and only 23 and 24 we were overwhelmed by the whole experience and super nervous! However, it was such a great day of networking with other winners, learning new things and listening to Theos keynote. We really enjoyed meeting the people we had been talking too on Twitter, it was great to finally be able to put a face to the business name.

So if you’re nervous about what to expect, below are our first-timer tips to help you get the most out of your day at the #SBS Event!

Our Top Tips

Get there early, you don't want to miss out on networking with your fellow #SBS winners

Take a bag, you’ll need it for the prizes and free gifts

Take Business Cards and any other promotional material

Wear smart dress if it's your first time, you’ll want your photo with Theo to be professional

Have a good look at other SBS winners social media profiles and their owners so you know who people are.

Don’t worry about food and drink as there is plenty provided but take a bottle of water as you’ll want to stay seated during presentations

Book onto the one to one sessions

Talk to the experts, they have some great advise to share

Trade your business cards with people you meet so you can remember and follow up any leads

Use Social Media throughout the day to let your fellow winners know where you are so they can meet you
