Who doesn’t love Ikea? It gives us the same feeling we got as kids going into a toy shop (it’s basically a toys R us for adults).

We’re not afraid to say it our office is basically a Ikea showroom everything from the desks right through to the glasses came from Ikea. It’s a combination of quality and affordability that makes it so perfect for people like ourselves. Ohh and of course everything can be chucked in the back of a car and built when you get home.

We know loads of people that absolutely hate it, I think it’s a combination of the crazy in store experience followed by the fact you have to construct it yourself. But to us that’s the best bit, as graphic designers, we are born problem solvers and visual learners which comes in very handy when following a set of visual instructions. You may remember back if you read our studio anniversary blog there was a load of time lapse footage of us building all of our the Ikea furniture that went into our new studio. If you missed it check it out here.

Projects have even been inspired by Ikea instruction manuals, back in our days at college we entered the Penguin Roundhouse book cover competition. That particular year the non-fiction book picked was ‘Freakonomics’ (a great read for anyone interested in the weird economics of the world). The idea drew upon the fact that an instruction manual builds a final product much like economics which builds and shape the world around us. Check it out for yourself below.

Anyway back to Ikea and why we went. Well, we can’t actually tell you that because it’s top secret but we can give you some clues; we picked up a trolly full of frames and we’ve just launched our new store selling Brio prints. That’s all you’re getting I’m afraid you’ll have to keep an eye on social media to find out.

What we can tell you is to celebrate the launch of Brio Store we’re giving away a framed print of your choice to one lucky winner. To be in with a chance of winning head over to any of our social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter or Instagram)  and follow the instructions on the competition post.

If you check the blog out on a regular basis you will know we’re currently obsessed with time lapses. Here’s a little something we filmed while in Ikea. The lighting is actually really good in our local Ikea (Coventry) for filming and photos.

That’s all for now folks don’t forget to enter our competition and head over to our store to receive 25% off, use code ‘BRIO25’ at the checkout (valid until 12.05.17)
